From June 19 to 27, the Orquideas Negras Foundation went to Krakow – Poland, with the intention of participating in the Krakow Rugby Festival where once again they represented Venezuela facing high performance clubs from Scotland , France, Holland, England, Ireland and Poland.
In total eleven teams from these countries (including Venezuela) participated and our locals were divided into Orquideas Negras I and Orquideas Negras II.
Orquídeas Negras I won 4 of 5 matches, qualifying for the Gold Cup semifinals, where they beat Messier of France 26-7. In the final our locals fell against West of Scotland, Scotland team, 24-22, in a match that was decided on the last play.
Also, Orquídeas Negras II took the fifth place of the Tour by drawing in the semifinal of the Silver Cup with Selby I of England.
This European Tour is the sixth carried out by the Orquídeas Negras Venezuela Foundation, incorporating year after year young players who want to earn their place in the Venezuelan and world rugby.
There was a very emotional moment after receiving all the support of the teams participating in the tournament after a minute of silence offered by Orquídeas Negras for the students that died during protest in Venezuela. That´s rugby!
